Why do you need this as a student?
Important for international students
- Universities require proof of health insurance when you enroll (Immatrikulation).
- Without valid GKV coverage, enrollment is often not possible.
- Apply early enough so your insurance start date matches your semester.
- Incoming/travel insurance is different — enrollment usually requires student GKV.
