Why do you need this as a student?

Important for international students

  • Universities require proof of health insurance when you enroll (Immatrikulation).
  • Without valid GKV coverage, enrollment is often not possible.
  • Apply early enough so your insurance start date matches your semester.
  • Incoming/travel insurance is different — enrollment usually requires student GKV.
